Secret Service officer hit by car near White House

A United States Secret Service officer on a motorcycle was hit by a car near the White House on Monday afternoon, the agency said.

The Secret Service tweeted that the uniformed division officer was airlifted to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

The crash happened at around 1:30 p.m. at the corner of Pennsylvania Avenue and 15th Street.

The Secret Service said the car hit the officer head-on as the officer was trying to make a turn on his motorcycle.

According to D.C. police, the driver of the vehicle did not suffer any serious injuries.

At this time, police said it is still not clear who was at fault in the accident.

Photos shared with FOX 5 by Harrison Jones show the accident scene and heavy damage to a two-door, black vehicle. The officer's motorcycle was completely mangled.
