Police: Woman tried to rob 4 DC banks in 1 hour

- Police have arrested a 22-year-old Maryland woman for attempting to rob four Washington D.C. banks in a one-hour span.

Jessica Williams, of Suitland, has been charged with one count of bank robbery and three counts of attempted bank robbery.

D.C. police say Williams walked into a Bank of America in the 900 block of Rhode Island Avenue, NE, at around 9:56 a.m. Thursday and passed a note to the teller demanding money. However, she was unable to get any cash and fled the bank.

Two minutes later, the suspect went to the TD Bank located nearby on Rhode Island Avenue and did the same thing. The teller did comply with the woman’s demands and gave her the money. The suspect then left the bank.

At around 10:45 a.m., Williams is accused of going to a Citibank in the 3200 block of 14th Street in Northwest D.C. where she attempted to rob the bank. However, she was unable to get any money from the teller.

Four minutes later, police say the woman went to the Wells Fargo Bank nearby on 14th Street, but was unsuccessful in the robbery attempt as well.
