Police arrest man in connection with homicide of 3-month-old DC girl

Police have arrested a man they say killed a 3-month-old girl in D.C.

Officers say 25-year-old Cornell Delvonte Holton was arrested and charged on Sunday with the death of 3-month-old Skylar Newman.

Investigators were called to the 4300 block of G Street in Southeast, D.C. on March 16 around 9:30 p.m. where they found Skylar unresponsive and unconscious. She was admitted to a nearby hospital in grave condition but died from her injuries a few days later.

Police ruled her death a homicide from blunt force injuries and identified Holton as a suspect in the case.

Holton has been charged with first degree murder- felony murder and first degree cruelty to children.
