NASA renames street outside DC headquarters honoring real-life 'Hidden Figures'

WASHINGTON (FOX 5 DC) - The three African-American women portrayed in the 2016 film "Hidden Figures" will be recognized Wednesday when the street in front of NASA's Washington, D.C. headquarters is changed to "Hidden Figures Way."

Katherine Johnson, Dorothy Vaughan, and Mary Jackson helped crunched numbers at the NASA Langley Research Center in Hampton, Virginia, during the early days of the U.S. space program.

The woman worked in the pre-computer age, calculating rocket trajectories and earth orbits for the earliest American space flights.
