METRO UPDATE: What you need to know for Tuesday

Orange Line: Due to 3rd rail damage, no service Tues AM btwn Vienna & Ballston as previously announced. Use Ballston until further notice.
Shuttle bus service established btwn Ballston and 4 Orange stations w/o train service: Vienna, Dunn Loring, W Falls Church, E Falls Church.
Metro GM Paul Wiedefeld announced in a news conference Monday afternoon that rail service will be restored on all lines except the Silver Line for Tuesday morning, beginning at 5 a.m. The return to service also means Metro is reinstating normal fares-- which had been suspended for Monday only.
Trains will operate on a modified weekday schedule, and run every 12 minutes beginning Tuesday morning. Stations that are served by multiple lines may see more frequent service.
Parking fees will also return to normal on Tuesday morning at 9:30 a.m.
Wiedefeld also said there will be more buses on the roads come Tuesday morning, with roughly 79 routes running. He said 27 routes will run in the District, another 26 will be in service in Virginia, and 26 more in Maryland. Service will begin at 3:30 a.m., which is the normal weekday time.
Under Metro's severe snow plan, only the major routes will have bus service, and only on the busiest portions of each route. Bus service was halted at 5 p.m. Monday, on the limited number of routes that had been running since the morning.
In addition, MetroAccess service will be restored starting at noon on Tuesday. However, Metro is advising customers that some locations may be unavailable for door-to-door service where parking lots or roads have not been cleared. Delays and service impacts are possible due to road conditions. The MetroAccess telephone reservation call center will be open regular operating hours 8 a.m. - 4:30 p.m. Tuesday to assist customers with scheduling trips.
As of 4 p.m. Tuesday, rail service had been restored on the Green Line from Greenbelt to Branch Avenue, and with that, 79 of its 91 Metrorail stations were opened. The Braddock Road station was also reopened.
As of Monday afternoon, service was restored to the following stations, with trains running approximately every 25 minutes (and more often in some cases):
- Blue Line: Largo Town Center to Huntington
- Yellow Line: Mt. Vernon Square to Huntington
- Orange Line: Ballston to New Carrollton
- Red Line: Medical Center to Glenmont
- Green Line: Entire route is being served
Neither bus nor rail service operated on Saturday or Sunday as a result of the storm.
