Man shot, killed after fighting back during attempted robbery in NE DC

D.C. police are investigating following a deadly shooting that happened in northeast Washington overnight.

Police say a man was approached by two suspects in the 4300 block of 2nd Street NE around 10 pm, and one of the suspects was armed with a handgun. When the suspects tried to rob the victim, he resisted and was shot by the armed suspect once in the torso.

The victim was taken to a local hospital, but he did not survive his injuries, D.C. police say.

Police are still searching for the suspects. The first suspect is described as a black male in his 20s who is approximately 5'6" tall, and the second suspect is said to be a black male in his teens who is about 5'4" tall. No other specific details about their descriptions were immediately available.
