Md. brothers, ages 14 and 12, accused of abducting 2 children

A 12-year-old and a 14-year-old boy have been accused of abducting two young children from a playground in Anne Arundel County and tying them up in a nearby barn.

County police say the suspects are brothers and have been arrested and charged with kidnapping and numerous other offenses in connection with an incident Sunday. A complainant called police Sunday afternoon, telling authorities he was with an 8-year-old girl and her 9-year-old brother, who said they had been abducted earlier that day in Lothian.

The victims told police that the suspects tied up their hands and feet with rope, waved a knife at them and threatened to burn them.

Police say the suspects fled, leaving the victims tied up in the barn, when they heard several neighborhood children looking for the victims.

There is no word yet on a motive. Authorities say the children were acquaintances.
