FOX 5 Cares: 8-year-old girl battling leukemia goes on dream Italy trip thanks to Make-A-Wish

FOX 5 Cares is our station's campaign to highlight the work of charitable organizations and non-profits in our community. We hope by partnering with these groups, we can help them get their message out and reach their goals.

We are teaming up with Make-A-Wish Mid-Atlantic for their Season of Wishes campaign.

Over the next several weeks, we will be sharing the wonderful work Make-A-Wish does in our area and how you can be part of the magic.

This past summer, FOX 5's Caitlyn Roth visited young Rachael Kinson. She has been battling childhood leukemia. But the good news is that she's doing pretty well now.

She has a passion for cooking and has always wanted to go to Italy to learn how to make pasta.

Make-A-Wish has made that come true as Rachael and her parents went to Italy recently where she got personalized cooking lessons from Italian chefs.

The family visited several cities, including Rome, Venice and Florence.

They stopped by FOX 5 News Morning on Sunday to dish about the great experience.

Rachael is just one of the amazing kids we are going to meet this month as we partner with Make-A-Wish Mid-Atlantic for Season of Wishes.

You can donate money and air miles on their website at midatlantic.wish.org.

They really need air miles for kids' trips, so if you've got some extra miles sitting around, please think about donating them.
