Firefighters rescue dog from Bowie home on fire

Prince George's County firefighters have extinguished a large fire at a home in Bowie Wednesday afternoon.

Fire officials say the blaze started at around 4:30 p.m. in the 100 block of Jewitt Place.

Thirty-five firefighters responded to the scene and quickly put out the fire. A dog was rescued from the home and no injuries were reported.

According to fire officials, the fire appears to have started in the garage. The cause of the fire remains under investigation.

The family has been displaced from the home.
