At least 20 people shot over long Memorial Day weekend in DC

At least 20 shootings since Friday turned the long Memorial Day weekend into a stretch of violence in the District.

The calls for shootings began Friday night and continued into Saturday in different areas of D.C. On Sunday, a 15-year-old was gunned down and killed and three others were wounded in a shooting incident outside of a liquor store on Wheeler Road in Southeast D.C. The victim, identified as Maurice Scott was a student at Somerset Prep in D.C. and died at the hospital.

On Monday afternoon, police say four men and a boy were injured during a shooting in the 1200 block of Sumner Road in the Southeast. Police say all five survived the shootings and were transported to nearby hospitals.

Just before midnight, police say two men were shot in the 2600 block of Birney Street. Police say one of the men died on the scene and the other was injured in the foot.

No arrests have been made in any of theses cases.
