Arlington County police issue phone alert for serial indecent exposure suspect

Authorities are using a different tactic to help spread the word about a suspect wanted for nine incidents of indecent exposure in Arlington County since late January.

Arlington County police issued a mass call to 88,000 residents on Tuesday after the suspect exposed himself two more times this week.

Detectives said it's rare for them to use a mass call to alert the public, but in this case, they need the public's help to locate the suspect and get him off the streets.

"In a majority of the cases the male suspect is coming from behind, the females were walking in the area, and he either says something or they can sense that somebody is nearby. They turn around and see the man is either exposing his genitals or in the performance of a lewd act. Some of them he has approached female victims as they enter their vehicles so they've been inside their vehicles when he's exposed himself and they've been able to drive away," Ashley Savage with the Arlington County Police Department explained.

Investigators said the man is described as being in his 20s or 30s and 5-feet-8-inches to 5-feet-10-inches tall with a medium build. Officers said in several of the reported incidents the suspect wore dark clothing with a hat or hood pulled tight around his face.

Here is a partial list of the locations and times police say the incidents occurred:
