2 arrested for stealing toy poodle from DC woman

Two more people have been arrested for brutally attacking a woman and stealing the toy poodle she was walking last week, D.C. police say.

Police have charged 33-year-old Acoyia Williams and 53-year-old Esther Annette Tyson, both of Southeast D.C., on Wednesday with robbery (force and violence) for the attack.

Edwina Loftlin said she was walking her neighbor's poodle, "Diva," along with her dogs on August 3 in the 5200 block of Fitch Street, SE, when two women attacked her. The women took Diva out of Loftlin's hands and took off with the dog.

Loftlin said suffered an injured knee that would require surgery along with facial injuries that included a black eye and a busted lip.

Several days later, Diva was found and police arrested 21-year-old Tanisha Celestina John-Hope of Southeast D.C. for receiving stolen property.

Diva was transported to the Washington Humane Society for an examination after she was located and has been returned to her owner.
