Washington Capitals unveil Stanley Cup championship ring

As a new NHL season is set to begin, the Washington Capitals have unveiled their Stanley Cup championship ring.

The hockey team's players, coaches and staff members were presented with their rings Monday, which was created by Jostens.

The ring is made of 14-karat white and yellow gold and is set with 258 round diamonds along with genuine rubies and genuine blue sapphire.

The ring's top features the Capitals logo, with the words "Stanley Cup Champions" in yellow gold surrounded by diamonds and rubies.

The left side of the ring features the player's name above the U.S. Capitol building along with player's jersey number. The right side features the year 2018 with the Stanley Cup in the middle along with the words "Washington DC" above them.

The interior of the ring is engraved with the Capitals' logo and features the logos and series scores of the teams Washington defeated during its Stanley Cup run.

"We have always had one single, unwavering goal for the Washington Capitals: to build a team as great as our fan base," said Capitals owner Ted Leonsis. "These rings will now forever be a reminder for the players, coaches, and fans: we did it. We are thrilled today to be able to unveil this beautiful ring, which will always be a proud symbol of the Capitals' incredible 2018 Stanley Cup run and the unbreakable bond they created among all Caps fans who shared in the joy of that moment together."
