Prince George's County youth baseball team advances to semifinals of Cal Ripken World Series

A Maryland youth baseball team is continuing to make its run in the Cal Ripken World Series.

The PG Select Blue Sox advanced to the semifinals of the tournament after a walk-off 3-2 win over the team from the Pacific Northwest region.

Brayden Martin, the son of FOX 5 assignment editor Kenny Martin, provided the clutch game-winning hit Wednesday for his team based out of Prince George's County.

"I'm just so excited," said Kenny, who is also an assistant coach on the team. "It was a very tough game. There were a lot of moments there where I think the team maybe started to doubt if we could do it. We just pulled together and it was just an amazing team win. A number of great plays throughout from different players and we are just so happy."

The Cal Ripken World Series is being held in Branson, Missouri.

The PG Select Blue Sox will play their semifinal game on Thursday night.

"We have been together four to five years," the proud father and coach said. "We have been working really hard and we are into the semifinals. We are just so happy."
