BRANSON, Mo. - A Maryland youth baseball team is continuing to make its run in the Cal Ripken World Series.
The PG Select Blue Sox advanced to the semifinals of the tournament after a walk-off 3-2 win over the team from the Pacific Northwest region.
Brayden Martin, the son of FOX 5 assignment editor Kenny Martin, provided the clutch game-winning hit Wednesday for his team based out of Prince George’s County.
“I'm just so excited,” said Kenny, who is also an assistant coach on the team. “It was a very tough game. There were a lot of moments there where I think the team maybe started to doubt if we could do it. We just pulled together and it was just an amazing team win. A number of great plays throughout from different players and we are just so happy.”
