VIOLENT NIGHT: 2 killed in double shooting, 4 stabbed in Northeast DC

Police say two people were shot and killed and four others were stabbed, including one person who was attacked with a machete, in a series of violent overnight incidents in Northeast, D.C.

The violence began around 11:38 p.m. Wednesday when two women and a young girl were stabbed in the 700 block of 24th Street. Police believe a large fight occurred at the location and led to the stabbings. None of the injures are believed to be life-threatening.

About five minutes later, police received a call for a double shooting in the 400 block of 61st Street. The shootings were reported around 11:43 p.m. Wednesday and left two men dead. FOX 5's Melanie Alnwick was at the scene and said that both victims were adult males and both were believed to have been found dead inside of a home at the location. Investigators have not identified suspects or motives at this time.

Several hours later, police say a man was attacked by another man with a machete. The incident was reported around 3:30 a.m. Thursday in the 4400 block of Gault Place. The man was hospitalized with non-life-threatening injuries. Police are still searching for a suspect.

Investigators do not believe any of the incidents are related.
