Suspect sketch released after attempted abduction of 8-year-old girl in Fairfax County

Police have released a sketch of a man they say tried to kidnap an 8-year old girl in the Alexandria section of Fairfax County.

The incident was reported last Wednesday around 5:15 p.m. Authorities say the man approached the girl who was walking home near the intersection of Frye Road and Madge Lane. Officers say the suspect grabbed the girl and chased her after she broke free.

The alleged attack happened within blocks of where 16-year-old Jholie Moussa's body was found in Woodlawn Neighborhood Park on Friday. Authorities have not said whether they believe the two incidents were connected.

Detectives have been canvassing the area and extra patrols are in place. The suspect is described as a black male, between 40 and 50 years old. He stands about 5 feet 7 inches tall and has a medium build. He is described as having short hair, a short beard, a mole on his left ear and a tattoo on his inner right forearm.

The victim told police he was wearing a black, zip-up jacket with gray pockets, a black baseball hat with gray writing, black pants, black shoes and was carrying a black or gray backpack.
