Secret Service arrests fence jumper near White House

WASHINGTON (Fox 5 DC) - The Secret Service says it arrested a person who tried to jump a security fence next to the White House.

A bystander posted this video to Twitter of the arrest around 9 p.m. Friday night at The Treasury Building on Pennsylvania Avenue.

You can see the Secret Service took the suspect into custody after a brief struggle.

Officials say the incident had no effect on White House security operations.

Construction is set to start soon on a new 13-foot-tall fence surrounding the White House. That's nearly double the current fence's height.
