Man shoots 2 over bill dispute at Cadillac Ranch restaurant in National Harbor, police say

A man and woman were taken into custody after police said the man opened fire, injuring two security guards at a popular restaurant in National Harbor early Thursday morning following a dispute over a bill.

The Prince George's County Police Department said the shooting happened inside the Cadillac Ranch Great All-American Bar and Grill on Fleet Street at about 12:40 a.m.

Detectives said 21-year-old Montana Artis and 19-year-old Tony Smith were in a dispute with an employee at the Cadillac Ranch over their bill. While security guards escorted Artis and Smith out of the restaurant, investigators said Artis pulled out a gun and opened fire, striking one of the security guards and grazing another.

Artis and Smith fled the scene and were found at a nearby hotel where a gun was recovered, according to officials.

The security guards suffered non-life threatening injuries and one was released from the hospital as of Thursday afternoon.

Artis, of Waldorf, was charged with two counts of attempted murder, assault and additional charges. Smith, of Alexandria, has been charged with disorderly conduct and conspiracy after the fact.

Anyone with information that could aid detectives in their investigation was urged to call (301) 749-5064.
