Couple killed, 1 hospitalized in deadly shooting in Reston

A husband and wife are dead and a third person was taken to the hospital after a shooting in Fairfax County. Police say the shooting was reported around 5 a.m. in a home in the 2600 block of Black Fir Court in Reston.

Investigators have identified the deceased couple as 48-year-old Scott Fricker and 43-year-old Buckley Kuhn-Fricker. The third victim shot was taken to the hospital in critical condition.

Police say there were others inside of the house during the shooting and were not harmed. They believe all of them were known to each other.

"They are being interviewed by police at this time," said Fairfax County Police Officer Reem Awad. "There is no threat to public safety. Detectives say that the shooter is either among the one in the hospital, the deceased or one of the ones being interviewed at this time."

Neighbors say the family moved to their house during the summer. Police say at least one child lived in the home and neighbors say the couple had three children.

"Just really nice people," a neighbor told FOX 5. "They seemed very pleasant, seemed excited to be in the neighborhood. Everybody liked them … They had a nice open house to celebrate that they moved in and everything. A lot of the neighbors were there and their family friends. A super nice gathering."

Kuhn-Fricker was an attorney, author and advocate for the elderly, according to neighbors.

Police say they do not have a cause for the shooting and no one has been charged at this time. The investigation is ongoing.
