Police conduct accident reconstruction at scene where DC dirt bike rider was killed in crash

Officers are back at the scene in Northeast, D.C. where a man was killed last week in a crash between a dirt bike and a police cruiser.

Investigators tell FOX 5 that Division Avenue is closed between Foote Street and Eads Street. Officers say they are conducting accident reconstruction.

Jeffrey Price was killed on the afternoon of Friday, May 4 when his dirt bike struck a police cruiser on Division Avenue and Fitch Place. Police say Price was riding an illegal dirt bike, driving on the wrong side of the road and speeding when he struck the marked police cruiser.

Family members say several witnesses have told them they saw police officers pursuing Price, which is against D.C. Police Department policy.

"We don't have any information to suggest there was a pursuit," said D.C. Police Chief Peter Newsham earlier this week. "There were several witnesses that were out on their porches that day. We spoke to all of them and none of them suggested it was a pursuit. So if the family has somebody that is saying this, we would like to hear from them."

The investigation is continuing.
