WASHINGTON - A person who allegedly stole a police vehicle is under arrest after a high speed chase ended with a crash.
Police say the suspect, identified as 38-year-old Keith Edwards, stole the cruiser near Capitol Hill around 1:20 a.m. this morning and then led officers on a chase which reached speeds of over 100 miles an hour.
The chase ended when the suspect allegedly crashed the cruiser into another police vehicle near 3rd Street and South Carolina Avenue in the Southeast.
Two officers were injured in the chase. Edwards faces charges of unauthorized use of vehicle, reckless driving and felony assault on a police officer.
