Maryland woman stole Halloween decorations from more than 20 homes, St. Mary's County police say

A Maryland woman is facing a host of charges for allegedly stealing Halloween decorations from more than 20 victims and putting them on her own property.

According to the St. Mary's County Sheriff's Office, the items that were stolen from homes in the Challenger Estates neighborhood in California, Maryland ranged from a candelabra to a zombie on a stake to an antique stove valued at $400.

Investigators say 34-year-old Ashley Michelle Zorn was caught on surveillance video stealing from one of the victims and the clip was posted on social media.

When St. Mary's County Sheriff's deputies visited Zorn's home in Lusby to question her, they reportedly found several of the stolen items.

According to the Sheriff's Office, Zorn admitted to the thefts after they searched her property and recovered some of the items that were allegedly stolen.

Some of the items were allegedly on sale at a garage sale, other items were located within Zorn's home.

Zorn has been charged with 22 counts of theft and was scheduled to appear in court on Nov. 30.
