Man arrested in Rehoboth Beach Boardwalk stabbing, police say

Authorities have arrested a man they say stabbed a teen over the weekend along a popular Rehoboth Beach tourist destination.

Police say 23-year-old Marques J. Gantt stabbed an 18-year-old on the Boardwalk near Wilmington Avenue just after 10:00 p.m. on Saturday, June 1.

Investigators say the stabbing followed an argument and that several people were with Gantt during the incident. The victim was hospitalized and suffered non-life-threatening injuries.

Detectives say they located Gantt in a Rehoboth Beach hotel room on June 5 after receiving tips regarding the incident. He was taken into custody without incident. He was charged with three felonies including first degree assault, possession of a deadly weapon during the commission of a felony, and carrying a concealed deadly weapon. He also faces a charge of misdemeanor terroristic threatening.

Police say others who were at the scene of the incident have been identified but no other charges have been filed.
