The emergency was reported Saturday afternoon to a 10-inch line near the intersection of Connecticut Avenue and Georgia Avenue. Washington Suburban Sanitary Commission said 300 customers were impacted.
Traffic in the area is expected to face delays throughout the morning. Harmony Hills Elementary School was closed Monday due to the water main break. A water station has been set up at the school for those impacted.
The 10-inch main split several feet. Length of split on pipe and concrete ductbank near the pipe makes excavation & repairs complicated and time consuming. pic.twitter.com/pvMo90ZnM5— WSSC Water News (@WSSCWaterNews) December 3, 2018
