1 dead, 4 injured after multi-vehicle crash in Largo

A man has died and four others were injured after a U.S. Postal Service mail truck was involved in a crash with two other vehicles in Largo.

Maryland State Police said the crash happened at around 5:30 p.m. Thursday on Largo Road (Route 202) at Wood Branch Court between the mail truck, a GMC pickup truck and a Dodge Ram pickup truck.

Police say the driver of a GMC pickup truck was pronounced dead at the scene. The other four victims were transported by ambulance to Prince George's Hospital Center. Their condition is unknown at this time.

According to police, the driver of the GMC pickup tuck crossed the center line and collided with the Dodge Ram head-on. The mail truck was traveling behind the Dodge truck and unable to stop in time to avoid the two pickup trucks.

All lanes of Route 202 between White House Road and Route 193 were closed for three hours for the investigation.

The cause of the crash is still under investigation.
