Thousands without electricity following power outage in Northeast DC

WASHINGTON (FOX 5 DC) -- Several thousands of Pepco customers are without power in Northeast D.C. following a large outage Monday night.

At 10:30 p.m., Pepco reported that nearly 7,000 customers were without power in the District. That number has dropped to around 2,300 at around midnight.

Pepco says the outage began at around 9:30 p.m. and was caused by an equipment issue at one of their substations.

Power should be restored at around 1:30 a.m. Tuesday.
