Waldorf teen shot and killed was honor student, football player and track runner, school says

A teen who was shot and killed during a dispute outside a home in Waldorf was an honor student, as well as a football player and track runner, according to school officials.

The Charles County Sheriff's Office said 17-year-old Elisha Amon Cole was gunned down after a fight broke out between a group outside a home in the 11200 block of Wildmeadows Street in Waldorf late Wednesday evening. Video from the scene showed a home and SUV riddled with bullet holes.

Elisah was a senior at Thomas Stone High School where school officials said he was academically and athletically gifted.

"Elisah was excelling academically. Through Thomas Stone, he was on a very rigorous course of study and he was maintaining his status as an honor student," Andre Kenan, Elisah's social studies teacher at Thomas Stone High School said. "People loved him. Not only his peers, his teachers had a lot of respect for him as well as other staff members. He was a very beloved young man."

"It's tragic and sad," Kenneth Raley, a senior at Thomas Stone High School said. "He was a good dude who was just at the wrong place at the wrong time."

Anyone with information that could aid detectives in their investigation was urged to call police at (301) 609-6515.
