Sources: Drunk driving suspected in Bowie crash that killed 5 children, passenger

Multiple sources tell FOX 5 drunk driving is suspected in a crash that killed five children and an adult on Route 301 in Bowie earlier this month.

Two sources said Sunday that Maryland State Police believe the driver, 32-year-old Dominique Taylor, was under the influence of alcohol at the time of the crash.

The crash happened early in the morning on February 2, 2019.

Police say Taylor veered off the road in a Chrysler Pacifica and struck trees before ending up in a snow-covered field.

Her two daughters and three other children, who were family members, were not wearing seatbelts.

The children were thrown from the van and did not survive the crash.

Police announced this week that Taylor's passenger, 23-year-old Cornell Simon, died in the hospital from crash-related injuries.

The two sources say Taylor's blood alcohol content was greater than twice the legal limit of .08.

Maryland State Police tell FOX 5 the crash is still under investigation. Taylor has not been charged.

The Maryland State's Attorney's Office says it will make a decision about how to proceed once it has more information from investigators.
