SILVER SPRING, Md. - A Montgomery County school bus carrying 39 students was struck by a trash truck Monday morning, sending the bus driver and nine students to the hospital.
The crash happened just before 8 a.m. near Layhill Road and Norbeck Road in Silver Spring.
All injuries are considered non-life-threatening, authorities say. Several other students were also evaluated on the scene for injuries. The students attend nearby Farquhar Middle School in Olney.
Norbeck Road was closed in both directions during the investigation and has since reopened.
