LANHAM, Md. - Residents of a Prince George's County neighborhood were stunned after a beloved member of their community was killed over the weekend. Neighbors on Greenfield Drive in Lanham say the victim was a grandfather and retired postal worker
Police have not said how the man died after they responded to an assault around 8:30 p.m. on Saturday. They said the victim was critically hurt when they arrived and later died at the hospital.
Neighbors say the victim was in his 60's and named Kenny. "He would give you he shirt off his back," said neighbor Juan Rivera. "He's an all-around guy. He's been in this neighborhood 20 plus years, and he's going to be truly missed."
"He's very friendly, talked to all the neighbors, and was concerned about what's going on in the neighborhood," said Kerry Joseph, another neighbor. "He never bothered anybody, never caused any trouble. Everybody loved Kenny. He was just a nice guy."
A spokesman for Prince George's County Police said the death is being investigated as a homicide. He said it appears to be an isolated incident. Police have not released information regarding a suspect or arrests.
Officers stayed at the home overnight into the afternoon Sunday conducting their investigation.
