While Trump is in Florida, a predicted half a million protesters will take to the streets of downtown D.C. and march along Pennsylvania Avenue following the deadliest school mass shooting in U.S. history.

The site of the massacre, Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School in Parkland, Florida, is approximately 40 miles from Mar-A-Lago. While hundreds of students from the school will be in the District for the March For Our Lives, many students from Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School will remain in Parkland, Florida for a sister march there. The Sun Sentinel reports that nearly 20,000 demonstrators are expected to participate in the rally in Parkland, Florida.

Thousands of protesters are expected to gather at Mar-A-Lago for a sister March For Our Lives rally, according to the Palm Beach Post. This is the president's 15th visit to Mar-A-Lago since he took office on Jan. 20, 2017, the Palm Beach Post reports.

Following the Women's March in 2017, which took aim at the president the day after his inauguration, Trump tweeted, "Watched protests yesterday but was under the impression that we just had an election! Why didn't these people vote? Celebs hurt cause badly."

A couple hours later he took a different tone and tweeted, "Peaceful protests are a hallmark of our democracy. Even if I don't always agree, I recognize the rights of people to express their views."
