Police: Man assaulted, set on fire by 5 suspects in Fairfax Co.

- Fairfax County Police say they have detained two suspects and are searching for three more after they say a man was assaulted and burned in Annandale.

Investigators say it happened just after 2 p.m. Sunday at an apartment complex at the 4500 block of Commons Drive in Annandale.

Officers say a caller reported a man was being assaulted by five to six young men and saw them light him on fire.

When officers arrived on the scene, investigators say they found the suspects and chased after them. Two suspects were detained and are being interviewed by detectives.

Officers are searching the area for the remaining suspects.

FOX 5's Evan Lambert reports that a charred backpack was among the items found by investigators at the scene.

A police source tells FOX 5 the victim is male. Police say the victim has burns to his upper body and was taken the hospital with non-life threatening injuries.
