Police make arrest in death of 1-year-old boy, died from multiple blunt force injuries

A man has been arrested for the death of a toddler who was found beaten in a Southeast home, DC Police say.

They say 28-year-old Brian Jamal Wooden, of Southeast, DC, was arrested and charged with First Degree Murder-Felony Murder for the death of 1-year-old Carter Sanders.

Officials tell FOX 5 that Wooden was the boyfriend of Carter's mother.

Police say Carter died after being found with multiple blunt force injuries on Wednesday at the 4700 block of Benning Road, Southeast.

Police at the scene found the young boy unconscious and unresponsive and took him to a hospital, where he was later pronounced dead.

Officials say the toddler was taken to the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner found through an autopsy to have died from multiple blunt force injuries.

Wooden was arrested and charged on Sunday, police say.
