Parents charged with murder of 3-month-old baby boy

Prince George's County police have arrested a man and woman for the murder of their baby boy.

Family members initially reported 24-year-old Geneice Petty and her 3-month-old son missing on Monday. Police said detectives were able to locate the mother along with the baby's father, 32-year-old Antoine Petty, the following day.

Police said Antoine Petty admitted during interviews with detectives that he assaulted the infant, which led to the infant's death. Both parents also admitted to burying their son in order to cover up the crime.

Detectives located the baby's remains in a shallow grave behind Parkdale High School in the Riverdale area. Investigators believe the child was buried there for about a month. Employees at Parkdale High School told FOX 5 that forensic teams and police had been searching in a wooded area behind the football field since Tuesday afternoon.

"I believe the child was frustrating him with the noise that he was making, so it would be similar a shaken baby type of thing - he was very frustrated and wanted to get him to be quiet," said Prince George's County Police Lt. David Coleman.

Antoine Petty has been charged with first- and second-degree murder and other related charges. Geneice Petty has been charged with accessory after the fact.
