The storms moved across the region during the morning hours slowing the rush-hour commute to a crawl. Multiple crashes and collisions added to the delays. The heavy rainfall brought several inches of rain to the region in less than an hour.

Emergency crews across the area were dispatched to multiple water rescues in areas like Germantown, Frederick, Fairfax County and even in the District. Video from viewers show waters overtaking Baker Park in Frederick and swamping streets in downtown D.C. A leaky roof at the Virginia Square-GMU Metro station allowed water to pour in like a waterfall onto the tracks below.

A Flash Flood Emergency was put into place for potions of the D.C. region including downtown Washington, D.C. Officials urged motorists to only drive if necessary and to turn around if they encounter flooded roadways,

The DC region will see sunny and dry conditions as temperatures reach the upper 80s on Tuesday and Wednesday. There is a chance of some thunderstorms on Thursday and low humidity is expected for most of the upcoming week with a dry weekend ahead.
