Victim hospitalized with 'life-threatening' injuries in Brookfield Plaza shooting, police say

A victim suffered life-threatening injuries in a shooting at Brookfield Plaza in Springfield late Friday night, according to Fairfax County police.

Saturday morning, police updated their report to indicate that a second victim had arrived at a hospital with a leg injury around 4:15 a.m.

Police say they encountered approximately 300 people fighting in the shopping center parking lot when they responded to a shooting at the location shortly after 11 p.m.

Additional officers were called to the scene from surrounding districts as police tried to control and disperse the crowd.

Investigators believe the incident erupted when a fight broke out on the dance floor inside a business hosting a private party.

FOX 5's Anjali Hemphill reported several large windows at the location were shattered during the incident.
