Man says he does not like illegal immigrants before pulling knife, police say

Police are investigating a possible hate crime after they say a man armed with a knife told another man he did not like illegal immigrants before attempting to attack him Tuesday night in Northwest, D.C.

Officers say the incident happened at 10:10 p.m. along the 3100 block of Mount Pleasant Street.

According to the police report, the victim was approached by a man who began making gestures toward him while saying he didn't like illegal immigrants. When the victim told the man he was not an illegal immigrant, police say the suspect told him to shut up and said, "I don't like you and I am going to kill you."

Police say the suspected attacker pulled a knife and chased the victim around a bus stop before running away on foot. The suspect is described as a white male, 5-feet-4-inches tall and weighing 160 pounds. He is said to have straight, black hair.
