Man charged with attempted murder after stabbings at Germantown party

GERMANTOWN, Md. - A man has been arrested for stabbing two people at a party inside a home in Germantown Sunday evening, police said.

Montgomery County police have charged 26-year-old Da'Von Mobley with two counts of attempted first-degree murder, home invasion, first-degree burglary, reckless endangerment and theft of a motor vehicle.

According to police, Mobley and the victims, a man and woman, were acquaintances and were together inside a residence in the 13300 block of Kilmarnock Way. The victims said Mobley left after they asked him to leave. But 15 minutes later, Mobley forced his way through the front door of the home and stabbed both of the victims in the upper body before fleeing the scene.

Police said Mobley stole a 2007 Dodge Caliber, which had been parked on Kilmarnock Way and reported missing by a resident to officers investigating the stabbings. Police located Mobley driving the vehicle and attempted to stop the car, but he refused to stop. As officers pursued Mobley, he drove the car off the roadway and stopped the vehicle in a tree line and fled from the vehicle on foot. With the help of police K-9s and a Maryland State Police helicopter, Mobley was eventually apprehended.

Both victims were transported to a local hospital. The male victim suffered life-threatening injuries while the female victim had serious injuries.

Mobley is being held without bond.
