Funeral for Prince George's County Police Cpl. Mujahid Ramzziddin to be held Friday

The funeral for a Prince George's County police officer who was shot and killed while attempting to protect a female neighbor being threatened in a domestic situation is set to be held on Friday.

Funeral services for Prince George's County Police Cpl. Mujahid Ramzziddin will be held at the Diyanet Center of America located at 9610 Good Luck Road in Lanham.

According to the mosque, the schedule of events will include:

- Khutbah - 12:30 p.m.
- Jum'a Prayer - 1 p.m.
- Speeches - 1:30 p.m.
- Salat al-Janazah - 1:50 p.m.

Police say the funeral is expected to begin at around 1:30 p.m. in the outdoor plaza outside of the mosque's doors following the regularly scheduled afternoon prayer.

Brief sermons will be made by Imam Ali Tos of the Diyanet Center of America and the imam of Masjid Muhammad, the mosque Ramzziddin attended in Washington D.C. Prince George's County Police Chief Hank Stawinski and Ramzziddin's son, Eric Tyler, will also speak at the funeral.

After a brief funeral prayer, Ramzziddin's body will be placed in a hearse as part of a procession headed to Fort Lincoln Cemetery on Bladensburg Road in Brentwood where he will be laid to rest.

Prince George's County police are asking for those in the community who want to pay their respects to line the procession route that is expected to travel along Route 193 from Good Luck Road to Kenilworth Avenue, and along Bladensburg Road from the Peace Cross to the cemetery. The procession is expected to take place between 2 p.m. and 3 p.m.
