Firefighter injured during Southeast DC rowhouse fire

A D.C. firefighter was taken to the hospital after battling a fire at a home in Southeast D.C. Monday afternoon.

The heavy fire happened at a two-story rowhouse in the 2200 block of Prout Street. The occupants of the home were able to get outside safely and the fire was later knocked down by firefighters. Nine people were displaced as a result of the blaze, according to D.C. Fire and EMS.

Fire officials say the hospitalized firefighter suffered a non-life-threatening injury.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
