Family of Montgomery County woman Brenda Hopkins looking for answers, missing over a week

- The family of 68-year-old Brenda Hopkins is looking for answers after the real estate attorney from Montgomery County has been missing for more than ten days.

Michelle Hopkins, Brenda Hopkins' sister, says she hasn't seen her older sister since she left her home to go to the store on August 8.

“It’s impossible for me to sleep because I’m still wondering what else could I do and what should I have been doing,” said Michelle Hopkins.

Michelle Hopkins says she’s lived with Brenda Hopkins for more than 20 years and nothing like this has ever happened before.

She says Brenda Hopkins often makes a 15-minute walk to the nearby White Oak shopping center, at New Hampshire Avenue and Columbia Pike, to buy cigarettes. That’s where she was heading the last time she saw her.

“When I came back down to the office and she still wasn’t here, I’m saying, ‘Well gosh, where is she?’ She’s been gone a long time. So then I went out to see if something happened because there is some flow of traffic going through that area. So did she get hit by car, was she stopped by somebody, what happened? And I didn’t find her at all,” said Michelle Hopkins.

She believes her sister only had some cash in her pocket. She left her purse and wallet at home and her car is still in the driveway. Michelle says Brenda was right in the middle of several cases and nothing adds up about her sudden disappearance.

“I just don’t know,” she said. “I don’t know why this has happened to her or what is actually happening to her.”

Montgomery County Police say at this point, they have no reason to suspect foul play, but they are concerned for Brenda’s well-being.

Police describe her as 5-foot-7 inches tall and 150 pounds. She was last seen wearing jeans and a blouse.

Montgomery County police ask anyone with information to contact detectives at (240) 773-6870.
