OLNEY, Md. (FOX 5 DC) — An Olney family is desperate for help in finding a grandmother who vanished nearly two weeks ago in Bethany Beach.
Linda Bravo has been living in Bethany Beach for several years since her husband passed away. Her sons and their families were planning to head down this coming weekend for a visit.
Bravo texted one of them, Zach Kight, two weeks ago today talking about groceries and other supplies she was getting ahead of their trip. It was the last time he heard from her. She went missing the next night.
"We're trying to get the word out to anyone and everyone,” said Kight.
Kight has been in Bethany Beach since he got the call from his mom's neighbor and best friend alerting him that something was wrong.
Linda Bravo was last seen at a friend's condo on the evening of June 13. She left around 11 p.m. saying she was headed straight home. But her neighbor says the 70-year-old never returned.
The two have fun tracking each other with the Find My Friends app and she noticed Bravo's location went offline that night. The next day she realized Bravo's three, dogs whom she apparently cherished, had been left all alone.
Officials say Bravo’s white Mercedes SUV with Deleware plates was captured on camera at 12:43 a.m. Her phone pinged a cell tower at 12:57 a.m. in the same general area, South Bethany Beach. Her SUV may have continued southbound on Coastal Highway, but that's where the leads run dry.
"None of this is in character, that obviously leads to bad results crash or foul play, so it's difficult but I'm here I'm not going quit,” said Kight. “Going to do whatever I can to find her.”
The Bethany Beach community held a search last weekend. Volunteers even went door-to-door asking neighbors and businesses to look through any surveillance video they may have — but still no sign of Linda Bravo.
Kight says his mom has shown no signs of dementia or Alzheimers. There's been no activity on her credit card or bank account.
There has been a Gold Alert issued in Delaware for Bravo. Anyone heading to the beach is asked to keep an eye out for her and her SUV.
