Employee, man brawl inside Chick-fil-A restaurant in DC

- A man was arrested and a Chick-fil-A employee is out of a job after a fight between the two took place inside a restaurant in D.C.

The incident, which was captured on video, happened Tuesday night at the Chick-fil-A restaurant on Wisconsin Avenue in the Tenleytown neighborhood.

According to the police report, a 55-year-old suspect was shouting at customers and he went behind the employee counter. A 27-year-old employee told him to leave and police said the suspect threw a punch at the employee. Then the brawl between the suspect and the employee broke out in front of customers inside the restaurant.

In the video, the employee is seen punching the suspect several times before the fight was broken up by other employees.

Police said the suspect, who was charged with simple assault, was taken to the hospital and treated for minor injuries.

The employee was not arrested, but did lose his job with Chick-fil-A.

Chick-fil-A said in a statement regarding the fight:

"There is a viral video circulating of an altercation that took place Sept. 4 between a restaurant team member and an individual in a franchised restaurant outside of Washington, DC. This video is incredibly disturbing to watch, and we do not condone violence or the team member's response to the situation in any way. Our franchise restaurant Operators and their team members strive to create a safe and welcoming environment and to treat all guests with dignity and respect. This situation does not live up to our brand's commitment to hospitality, and for that, we are very sorry.

"According to the franchise Operator, the team member involved in the altercation is no longer working in the restaurant. We are continuing to investigate this situation, including what happened before the video was taken and how it escalated so quickly."
