District Heights teen shot and killed mother's husband, police say

DISTRICT HEIGHTS (FOX 5 DC) - A District Heights teen who shot and killed his father is being charged as an adult, Prince George's County police said on Friday.

Jonte Graham, 17, is charged with first and second-degree murder in connection with the death of 32-year-old Antoine Colter.

Most recently, Colter's address was on Constitution Avenue in Northwest D.C.

Police began investigating on Sunday when they responded to the 6800 block of Atwood Street around 5:25 p.m. for a reported shooting.

When they arrived, they found Colter suffering from gunshot wounds inside an apartment. He died a short time later.

Police say the incident began when an argument between the victim and the suspect's mother escalated. According to court documents, the suspect intervened and started arguing with the victim before finally shooting him multiple times.

Graham is being held without bond.
