Cyclist struck in DC hit and run, police say

A cyclist was struck and left in the street in a hit and run in the District early Monday morning, according to officials.

DC police said the cyclist was hit at 12th Street and Constitution Avenue, NW just before 8 a.m.

Investigators said the vehicle fled the scene. Officials did not provide a description of the vehicle.

The 1000 to 1300 blocks of Constitution Avenue, NW and the 12th Street Tunnel were closed as police investigate the scene but have since reopened.

The cyclist was rushed to the hospital in critical condition, according to officials.
