Community hosting fundraiser to rebuild Hank Dietle's Tavern March 31

A fundraiser to raise money to repair Hank Dietle's Tavern from fire damage will be held at the Rock Creek Mansion on Saturday, March 31.

The night of music, food, drinks, and dancing will be held to support the beloved community bar in Rockville, that was destroyed in a fire last month.

Event organizers say "donations will go toward repairing the tavern's front porch, an area of the building which sustained the most damage during a fire on February 14th."

Suggested donations are $20.

Local bands will be performing to provide entertainment including Pile O' Rocks, The Flea Bops, Kiti Gartner & the Drifting Valentines, Lunch With Bob, and The Nighthawks.

Rock Creek Council #2797 Knights of Columbus donated Rock Creek Mansion for the event.

Hank Dietle's Tavern on Rockville Pike has been a staple in Montgomery County for over 100 years. The building was constructed in 1916 and then opened later as a tavern in the 1950s. It was the first bar to be granted a liquor license post-prohibition in the county.

More details about the event can be found on the Facebook page.

There is also a GoFundMe page to help raise money for the tavern. They have already received over $15,000 in donations toward their $20,000 goal.
