Body found lying on street in Centreville tentatively identified as juvenile, Fairfax Co. police say

Fairfax County police investigators say a body found in a Centreville neighborhood Wednesday morning has been tentatively identified as a male juvenile.

Police say at around 5 a.m. Wednesday, a delivery driver working in the neighborhood on Jeb Stuart Square noticed a person lying in the street with visible trauma to the upper body. He was pronounced dead on the scene.

Homicide detectives say they are still waiting for autopsy results from the medical examiner's office to officially confirm the identity of the body before they can reach out to the victim's family.

No arrest has been made in this case.

Investigators spent most of Wednesday combing the scene for evidence, but no weapon was found. Meanwhile, this community that is usually very quiet and safe has neighbors here on edge.

On Wednesday, Fairfax County police released a photo of a design with a skull and snake that they say was on the victim's sweatshirt when he was found. It is unclear if that helped identify him.
