Body found in Fairfax County believed to be teen who went missing after U2 concert, family says

- Police say they are now conducting a death investigation after a body was found in Springfield, Virginia. The family of missing Northern Virginia teen Raymond McGavin tells FOX 5 they believe it is their son.

The 19-year-old from Springfield went missing last Sunday, after attending a U2 concert in D.C. at Capital One Arena. Fairfax County Police say they do not suspect foul play.

McGavin's mother, Annemarie Gilmore McGavin said on Facebook: "Our son is at peace. We are grateful to all who provided their help in locating Raymond."

Raymond McGavin's father, Travis McGavin, tells FOX 5 that DNA tests need to be done on the body, but tells me he believes it is Raymond.

Raymond McGavin's family tells FOX 5 the night of the concert, he missed the last Metro train to Springfield, where he lives with his family, but texted a friend at 11:32 p.m. to say he had “found a way home." 

According to McGavin’s family, he posted a video of himself walking along train tracks on Snapchat at about 1 a.m. Monday, but there was no indication of where he was.

Travis McGavin, tells FOX 5 his son graduated from Gonzaga College High School in 2017 and was due to attend the College of William and Mary in the fall.
