An Alexandria fireman who wanted to give back to his community did so in a very special way. Battalion Chief Willie Bailey helped organize the department's toy giveaway for kids in need.

Chief Bailey says his involvement brings holiday giving full-circle, as he received toys from similar events for kids in need when he was growing up.

"I go back 40 some years and I remember coming here to Alexandria and this is where my parents, an event like this is where my parents got gifts for me and my my brothers and sisters," said Bailey.

Through his nonprofit Fire Fighters and Friends to the Rescue, 1,000 toys were given away to some fortunate kids.

"Right now I believe in too much is given and too much is asked. I'm trying to pay it forward," said Bailey.

Bailey said it wasn't just the children having fun. He said the toy giveaway brought smiles to the many volunteers who helped make the event possible.
