65-year-old man killed in Alexandria Friday, remembered as kind and caring

Friends of the 65-year-old man killed inside an Old Town Alexandria business window replacement business remember him as kind, caring and willing to help anyone down on their luck.

Police say a bystander found Bradford Jackson, known to friends as Brad, dead inside Window Universe on King Street, where he worked as a manager on Friday morning. Radio transmissions described a bloody scene inside the business.

Jackson's death is the second murder in Alexandria for the year.

Friends said Jackson had a reputation of helping his friends and even opened his home to them when they needed places to stay.

"Brad was like a second father to a lot of people. Brad was there for me when I had nothing, no place to go at times. Brad was there," said friend Christian Myers.

Jackson often rode his bike to and from work and could be seen riding through Old Town frequently.

"Brad was very warm, non-confrontational, just the nicest guy you've ever met in your life," said Myers.

Several friends tell FOX 5 they believe Jackson knew 34-year-old Pankaj Bhasin, who is accused of killing Jackson.

Detectives were seen taking a box from the area of the crime scene, but it is unclear if the package was connected to Jackson's death or not.

A spokeswoman for the Alexandria Sheriff's Office says Bhasin will appear in court Monday via video conference. He is being held without bond.
